Visual Identity for the Feast
As part of the process, she engaged with local community groups- Commerce Road Community Centre, Haringey Learning Partnership, Sophia House, and Brookside House to help create some of the visual assets you will see as part of the project.
Quotes from Dominika Lipniewska about the project:
“The workshops we ran focused on mark making, doodling, and creating patterns. We wanted them to represent cultures, textiles, the things people see every day or feelings or thoughts they might have about where they live. Mark making in general is a sensory and physical experience that can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities, and because it feels like play, we were hoping that our participants felt free to explore various tools, gestures, and surfaces, and not worry too much about their drawing abilities”.
“The participants were asked to talk about Haringey and think about the words or images that come to mind when thinking about the area. We then briefly discussed what mark making is, had a quick warm up using various materials like ink sticks, chalk pens and sponges, then we played with patterns and squiggles, doodles and marks that are associated with Haringey. We also created shapes that remind us of the area”.
“The outcome of the workshops with Commerce Road Community Centre, Haringey Learning Partnership, Sophia House, and Brookside House communities were documented where possible, and as a result, the brand’s visual look and feel was created using the textures, patterns and shapes you see in the Haringey Feast.
As a designer, it’s great to see the brand now live and being part of this project was a great collaboration exercise with the community”.
