About the Creation

For the Haringey Feast project, The RecordShop, founded by Mary Otumahana, delivered a stunning spoken word and music performance with artists Hywel Jones, Olivia Opara and Micah Maragh.

About the Artists

Mary Otumahana

Mary Otumahana is an award-winning founder of The RecordShop and musician, WondRWomN. She has had the privilege of partnering with global brands, such as O2 Telefonica, Samsung, Dr Martens, TFL, Sofar Sounds, FREENOW, Nike, Tottenham Hotspurs and RedBull to help them reach millennial and gen z audiences.

A calm, powerful presence can be felt on and off the stage as WondRWomN delivers intricate wordplay over jazzy, modern, or old school hip hop beats all the way through to hard hitting EDM and more unique styles.

Performing across Europe with the likes of Andalusian Hip-Hop legends SFDK and collaborating on the album Black Teeth/Black Tearz with the Spanish rap group Many Sharks In Raps earned her an expanding international fanbase. WondRWomN is a regular at Sofar Sounds and has been featured on BBC Introducing (2021).

Hywel Jones

Originally from Pontardawe, South Wales, Hywel Jones studied music at Goldsmiths, University of London.

He has played a wide variety of styles as a Trombonist/Euphoniumist, currently playing with free improv group The Apocalypse Jazz Unit, Rapper WondRWomN and Drone Group Endolyph, to name but a few.

Hywel is also an avid composer with an interest in maths, music, improvisation and indeterminacy. He recently started his own project Mr. Jones' Loud Music Group to perform his own compositions exploring these interests.

Olivia Opara

From journalistic writing to poetry and spoken word, Olivia Opara believes writing not only acts as a positive outlet but also enables her to better understand her passions, her values and her voice.

Having grown up in a generation that is more outspoken, more attentive and socially aware, Olivia has found that strengthening her voice through her creativity has allowed her to not only share her own story but the stories of others.

Olivia’s words provoke thought and emotion, and also aim to give power.
