About the Creation

Haringey Music Service and Haringey Young Musicians  created an immersive and joyful musical performance for the Haringey Feast, using objects from the Feast itself, including pots, pans and spons!

This rhythmic spectacular was composed by Ty Lowe, and performing from Haringey Music Service were Haringey Vox and Haringey Massed Percussion.

About the Artists

Ty Lowe

Ty Lowe is a singer-songwriter, vocal arranger, composer, workshop facilitator and teacher from Tottenham. He is a trained professional musician and sings and plays classical guitar and piano and has worked for over 10 years at Gladesmore Community School as Head of Music. 
 
Ty has been directing choirs, community groups and musical theatre productions for over 15 years. He has run choirs and musically directed projects for Hackney Empire, National Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, Hackney Music Service, Haringey Shed Theatre Company as well as being the choir director for Haringey Young Musicians and leading the successful Haringey Vox Choir for the past 9 years. 
 
Ty was creative and musical director of the initiative, Everybody Dreams, a project where young people of Tottenham wrote and recorded a single to change the negative perception of Tottenham post-riots. The song gathered national television coverage on ITV and the BBC, as well as numerous radio interviews with the BBC and peaked at number 33 on the iTunes chart and top 75 in the UK official charts.

Haringey Vox

Haringey Vox is for singers at secondary school and above, who are looking to explore vocal harmony and their voices in a variety of contexts. Song selections range from current pop song to jazz and soul standards, choral and world music. 

Haringey Vox has successfully toured Barbados with Haringey Music Service’s Steel Orchestra!

Haringey Massed Percussion

Haringey Massed Percussion features members of all of Haringey Music Service's percussion groups including Training Percussion, Orchestral Percussion and Percussion Circle. 

Percussion Circle explores beats, rhythms and cultures from all over the world combining opportunities to develop arranging sounds, building solos and working as a team. The power of this group is staggering and a must for all drummers, percussionists or those who want to explore rhythm.

About the Community 

Haringey Music Service (HMS) coordinates individual, group and whole-class instrumental and vocal music tuition in Haringey schools. Students across the borough came together to produce a joyful performance for the Haringey Feast!

HMS work with a highly skilled and carefully vetted team of over 150 freelance teachers, most of whom are also performing musicians. 

They believe that every child is entitled to a stimulating, challenging and accessible educational experience in music. As well as high profile engagements around the country and successful participation in national competitions, many of the groups from HMS have toured abroad to countries including Barbados, Peru, Finland, China, Sweden and Argentina.

HMS runs the Haringey Young Musicians programme of music ensembles which are open to anyone of school age living in or attending school in Haringey.
