BCM Storytelling Chair by Crouch End and District U3A Crafters
About the Creation
The Crafters of Crouch End & District U3A created 2 beautiful storytelling chairs for the Haringey Feast. Experienced makers and beginners alike met weekly at group sessions to focus on the crafting of decoupage, mosaic and crochet designs for the CEDU3A storytelling chairs for Hornsey Library.
Vibrant wool skeins produced by indie dyers coupled with an explosion of glorious, innovative patterns fuelled ideas on how to decorate the chairs, all while drinking tea and having a chat! They also proved mosaic-making, crocheting and decoupage quickly becomes addictive - by joining in and helping with the chairs, no surface was safe from their imagination and the benefits of their crafting camaraderie really shone.
About the Artists
The Crouch End & District U3A runs a monthly crochet group - the crafters that attend show us that crochet need no longer be confined to lace doilies and old-fashioned shawls!
About the Community
Hornsey Library hosted workshops that celebrated creativity and provided the space to pass on knowledge of traditional crafts.
